LCIS is managed by Prof. Lina Smoum, a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC). The ICCRC (Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council) is the national regulatory body that oversees regulated Canadian immigration professionals. Designated by the federal Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, the ICCRC aims to protect clients from fraudulent practices adopted by fake and non-professional consultants. Prof. Lina Smoum is an ICCRC Licensed Authorized Immigration Consultant with extensive academic credentials, including a Master's degree in Immigration and Settlement Studies from Ryerson University, Bachelor's degrees in Political Science from York University, a Certificate in Refugee and Migration Studies from York University, a Certificate in Immigration Consultant Program from Humber College, and a Certificate in Excellence in Educating Adults from Seneca College.
Prof. Smoum also serves as a professor in the Social Service Worker and Paralegal programs at Seneca College, Canada. Over the past five years, she has taught various courses, such as Introduction to Immigration/Refugee Sector, Field Seminar; Laws, Principles, and Ethics, Mental Health & Addiction, Field Practice, Diversity: Awareness and Practice, Group Dynamics and Theory, and Immigration Law. She has over three years of experience working with refugees and immigrants through the Diaspora Project (MCRI) at York University and has been a member of the Center for Refugee Studies at York University since 2003. Prof. Smoum is fluent in English and Arabic.
