Overview
Bahar holds an undergraduate degree from York University in Political Science and Law and Society. She obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Professional Development in Toronto, specializing in Alternative Dispute Resolution. In 2012, Bahar established The Law Office of Bahar Karbakhsh, where she has been offering services in Immigration and Refugee Law, including handling Appeals to the Immigration and Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board and Judicial Reviews to the Federal Court of Canada.
After earning her Qualified Mediator designation from the ADR Institute of Ontario, she has been providing mediation services in various practice areas and serves as a roster mediator for the Mandatory Mediation program in Toronto for civil cases. Bahar also worked as a mediation coach at the Small Claims Court from 2013 to 2017 for the Osgoode Hall Law School Mediation Clinic. Additionally, she was a member of the All Cultures Conflict Resolution Group, which focuses on providing conflict resolution solutions with a cultural emphasis.
Previously, Bahar was a Circle Keeper at Peacebuilders International, conducting restorative justice circles for first-time youth offenders. She also has teaching experience, having served as a Paralegal Instructor at a private college in Toronto for nearly two years, where she developed course material for ten different courses.
In addition to her passion for human rights-oriented law, Bahar has a deep appreciation for nature, music, dance, and the creative arts. For her M.A. Major Research Project, she investigated how dance and movement can be utilized for conflict resolution and personal transformation. Bahar provides services to clients in both English and Farsi.
