Yellowhead Community Services (YCS) is committed to enhancing the lives of those they serve through a range of integrated supports and services. With trained staff, YCS provides assistance to individuals of all ages across several community locations, including their offices and program centers in Clearwater and Barriere. As a non-profit, registered charity, YCS operates as a contracted agency, dedicating its resources and energy to offering a variety of mostly free programs and services to residents of the North Thompson Valley, extending from McLure to Blue River.

Incorporated in 1989 under the original name of Wells Grey Community Resources Society, YCS was established to address the need for a comprehensive organization capable of developing and administering social and health services in the region. Over the years, YCS has become the largest non-profit charity in the North Thompson Valley, employing a team of highly qualified full-time, part-time, and contracted staff.

Guided by their Mission Statement, which emphasizes 'providing services through collaboration, leadership, and innovation that create positive change and contribute to a healthy community,' YCS offers a broad spectrum of services, from pre-natal care to senior support. Most services are free of charge, with subsidies available when fees apply. The organization actively collaborates with other community partners to promote healthy choices, strengthen family and community connections, and enhance the quality of rural life in the Valley.
