Overview
Julie Taub is a bilingual (French and English) immigration lawyer practicing in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, with more than 15 years of experience in Canadian Immigration Law. She is a licensed lawyer and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the County of Carleton Law Association, and the Barreau du Québec. Julie Taub is recognized by the Government of Canada (Department of Citizenship and Immigration) as an authorized representative.
Her immigration practice specializes in spousal sponsorships, Express Entry immigration, work permits, LMIA’s, student and visitor visas, refugee claims, PRRA’s, and appeals.
Julie Taub has appeared before Federal Court, the Immigration Appeal Division, the Immigration Division, and the Refugee Protection Division, the three divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board on behalf of her clients.
She is a former member of the Immigration and Refugee Board ('IRB') Refugee Protection Division ('RPD') (1997-2000 Toronto), which provides her with a unique and in-depth understanding of the immigration process. She was also a part-time Duty Counsel with Ottawa Legal Aid on the Immigration Panel for several years until 2012.
Julie Taub graduated from the University of Toronto in 1971 with a B.A. in Political Science, earned a B.Ed. from Queen's University (1972), and an M.Ed. from the University of Ottawa (1978). She graduated from the University of Ottawa with an LL.B. in 1992 from the Faculty of Law, programme français, and was called to the Ontario Bar in February 1994. She is a former secondary school teacher from the Conseil Scolaire de la langue française de l'est de l'Ontario. She practiced general and family law until December 1996 when she was appointed to the Immigration and Refugee Board.
Julie Taub was an invited speaker at the Conference on Canada, Immigration, and Multiculturalism, hosted by the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C., in January 2008. She was a moderator/participant at the Fraser Institute National Conference on Immigration in Montreal in June 2008.
