Hearst, Kapuskasing, and Smooth Rock Falls Counselling Services (SCHKS) is a Francophone community organization dedicated to enhancing the mental health, well-being, and safety of its clients through high-quality care and services. As a non-profit entity governed by a volunteer board of directors, SCHKS plays a crucial role in maintaining the French language, promoting Francophone culture, and fostering solidarity within the Franco-Ontarian minority.

SCHKS provides a comprehensive range of mental health programs and services in both English and French. The organization supports communities in Hornepayne, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Cochrane, and Moosonee, offering specialized assistance for victims of violence and those affected by critical incidents.

The organization is primarily funded by the Province of Ontario and must adhere to specific requirements for fund management and program delivery. Ongoing and annual funding is secured from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS), and the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG). This support enables SCHKS to deliver essential services while upholding its commitment to cultural and linguistic preservation.
